2026 COMPETITIONS

This year only we are concentrating on making the move to Durango successful and are not planning to hold Spun Yarn, Dyed Yarn, or Garment & Home Accessories competitions, but we hope to hold the Fleece Competition & Sale and are looking for an experienced fiber person to manage that show.

FIELD CONTESTS

Field Contests are open to both visitors and vendors interested in joining the fun.

The precise location will be announced as we get closer to the Festival

There are three different categories. They include:

SPINNING

  • SPEED SPINNING | BLINDFOLDED SPINNING | 2-PERSON SPINNING

  • NAVAJO SPINDLE SPINNING

  • DROP SPINDLE SPINNING

Contestants must bring their own spinning wheels, Navajo and/or drop spindles for the competition.

MAVWA provides bowls, blindfolds and commercial roving so everyone is using the same roving for spinning contests.

KNITTING

  • SPEED KNITTING

  • BLINDFOLDED KNITTING

Contestants must bring their own knitting needles and yarn.

CROCHET

  • SPEED CROCHET

  • BLINDFOLDED CROCHET

Contestants must bring their own crochet hook and yarn.
