This class will introduce Gestalt principles of visualization which will guide your project selection. All yarn is dyed in only one of seven patterns and each behaves differently when knit. Learn to showcase the beauty of your individual skein from informed purchase to rediscovery of stashed treasures.
You will learn the five Gestalt principles that govern fiber artwork, the seven dye patterns that dyers employ and detailed "recipes" to create successful projects for each dye type.
SKILL LEVEL: The class is for all experience levels and is taught in a workbook format.
WHAT TO BRING: A skein of variegated yarn - no wound cakes - and a pencil.

Meet your instructor…
Kitty Bryan travels the United States and Canada to teach knitting design where students learn to create their own fabrics showcasing a fiber’s unique fiber, color, and stitch behavior. She is captivated by Gestalt principles and incorporates visual perception effects into her designs. Her class experience culminated in the publication of Knitting Variegated Yarn – Gestalt Techniques.
Married with two sons, she lives on the Washington coast where she enjoys botanical dyeing and spinning. Her designs have featured The Yarns of Rhichard Devrieze, Absolute Qiviut, Alexandra – The Art of Yarn, Apple Tree Knits, Ranching Tradition Fiber, Round Mountain Fibers, and Tangled Poets. She is one of five international designers showcased in the 2019 Year of Knitting Dangerously and her work has appeared in the Stitches United 2018 Fashion Show in Hartford, CT.
